Cine-Eye: An independent film journal
Cine-Eye (Cinema-Chashm) is an independent film journal which aims to promote and discuss independent film and cinema culture, among academics and serious film lovers inside and out of Iran.
The name Cine-Eye is taken from the term coined by the Russian filmmaker and film theorist Dziga Vertov for explaining his unique understanding of cinema practice and theory: “I am an eye. I am a mechanical eye. I, a machine, I am showing you a world, the likes of which only I can see”.
Cine-Eye is primarily focused on independent and art-house cinema with an aesthetic and theoretical approach. The journal wants to be a platform for the study of new and radical forms of cinematic practice and fresh approaches to world cinemas including Iranian cinema which have been neglected by the media.
